[EXHIBITION: Hisanori Mae : The insight for ordeal in life –the true existence in the dim, curated by Fumiaki Mae]

At this exhibition, having individual lantern on your hand, and look through beautiful paintings. That's just amazing experience.

"Since the ancient time in Japan, there is a symbolic expression which shows Japanese aesthetics called "In'ei Raisan" or "In Praise of Shadows"(Japanese author, Jun'ichiro Tanizaki used this word for his book title in1933) This word represents that the beauty of Japanese traditional art forms such as calligraphy, painting or vessel is emphasized in the dim. It is not only suggesting a way to enjoy magnificence of art, but it may be indicating how you should confront "THINGS" to capture the essence that is behind the phenomenon." >>continue..

"Over time Avsar has gained a near cult-like status within the Turkish art world due to the directness of his work and his keen observant mind. By working in a variety of media, Avsar's art always reveals itself through its dissident and critical treatment of social causes, consumerism, politics and the state of the human condition. These themes are always utilized with compassion and a thoughtful perspective, while drawing us in through the direct frankness of the work." >continue

"Major works by fine artists Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, and Egon Schiele are on view, as well as furniture by architects Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos, and decorative artists Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser. A special emphasis is placed on fashion, with loans of key clothing and accessories from the period. The exhibition also explores the overlap with new attitudes towards gender and sexuality that surface in Viennese literature and psychology at the time." >continue
